58 players spent a rainy Sunday indoors at the Mattara Hotel, Charlestown for a 7 match tounament today. Kept going by a plentiful supply of morning and afternoon teas either side of lunch, players in the 3 divisions seemed to enjoy the outing.
The divisions were nicknamed:
Armageddon (Scrabble war where all hell could have broken loose)
Bulldozers (trying to grade their way to the top division)
Contenders (striving to greater competition)

Overall there were 4 draws played, 1 in Bulldozers but 3 in Contenders with Veena Mohe figuring in 2 of them in the first 3 matches.
Memo to all players. While I'm sure those that have played for a while would have thought to ask for a readjudication, it pays to check all challenge slips when they come back from the computer as one Contnder found today. A challenge was issued for the word QAIDS but the disallowed *quaids was typed into the machine. Challenge slip returned to the table as incorrect and play went on a further 4 or 5 plays before any further inquiry was made about the word.
