Sixteen players attending meant a perfect Round Robin, enabling pairings to be predrawn, and turnarounds between games to occur quickly. There were five games before lunch, then six games to the pizza dinner at 6pm and the remaining four games in the evening.
The top six places were filled by New South Wales players who will be representing Australia in the Trans-Tasman in November, auguring well for that event.
Esther Perrins led virtually all the way to record a memorable victory. Esther has been out of the winning circle for a while, and this win has catapulted her to fourth on the national ratings list.
Joanne Craig, also in the Trans-Tasman team, tied two games. Our host Ivor Zetler played the exotic HONEYPOT and surprisingly 113 was the highest scoring play of the day - Joan Rosenthal for STARTING. All other brilliant plays went unnoticed, such is what happens on days like this when time is at a premium.
