1. Victoria won the Border Challenge by one game, after leading by nine games with two rounds to go.
Marie d'Rosario won the final game for Victoria to win.
Andrew Fisher won the event.
Strong performances from John Spaan and Helen Maurus, and it was tough going for the high rated players to hold onto ratings.
Alison Pollard won the open event, in which Tony Kalayzich went up over 100 rating points.
Joanne Craig high worded with ZEODARY.
Chile and I have just got home after 460km drive.
Ratings and Results coming from Bob, thanks to him for the smooth running of the event.
It was another classic relaxed weekend with about 30 players participating.
2. Re 11 games Border Challenge..
Well NSW went up over 80 rating points, which was more than Victoria went down by.
This probably occurs because players over 1800, like Andrew Fisher, have a multiplier which "subdues" both up and down movements of ratings. and which also endorses the fine effort NSW did to make a tight contest.
NSW were very tolerant of some Vic's ululating, as victory was grabbed back from the jaws of defeat..
And don't let Rex Shakespear's +61 go unnoticed........
