The popular Oatlands Scrabble Club held their second tournament Last Saturday at a perfeclocation in Northmead,with excellent facilities with parking and catering.all for a budget fee. Arie's determination paid of with close to 80 players joining in his "War of the Words Tournament" The event should go in the history page of scrabble. His promotial work is paying of,with introducing 6 novices in a comical way The tournament went of without a hitch,to keep tournament entertaining Arie introduced novelty prizes for odd words with 5 vowels,4 E's 3 I's etc;etc; 3 players collected $10.each. The evening was concluded with an Indian feast in a popular Indian restaurant with eight "Word Nurds" joining in.After celebration drinks and spicy Indian food.the paper tablecloth became an ideal scrabble pad where all the "Word Nurds" scribbled their favourite odd 7 letter word. like -QAWWALI-ANYROAD-ISOGRIV-TOOARTS.The restaurant staff who cleaned up,must have thought we were psychiatrist-scientist-or mathematicians. We will be back next year in Northmead.
