From the convenor:
Woy Woy Scrabble Club is one of the oldest Scrabble clubs on the Central Coast of NSW and we are an affiliated member of the Australia Scrabble Players Association, New South Wales branch. The Club meets every Thursday from 12noon to 4pm in the CWA Hall on the corner of Ocean Beach Road and Sydney Road, UMINA, and to help us to remain a viable club, and pay the rent, there is a small fee each week for playing. Currently we have approx. 20 players but are always on the lookout for new members. Players of any ability, male or female, would be made most welcome should they wish to come and join us and play the game we all love. The format each week is that we play in pairs and on the occasions when we have an odd numbers of people, one of our more experienced players will usually play two games at the same time, ensuring that nobody is ever left sitting out. We allow members to use their reference books and word lists, should they need to. Or you can play without them if that's what you and your opponent for that game decide on. All equipment is supplied, including several clocks. The group are very social often celebrating each other's birthdays with a monthly luncheon. Tea and Coffee is supplied for those who want it, but no food or biscuits. This we leave up to you to bring should you desire it. We organise three small tournaments in the Empire Bay Progress Association Hall each year, usually in February, July & October. Due to the size of the hall we can only accommodate a maximum of 40 people and only players, whose rating is under 1400 at time of entry, can enter. If you would like more information please ring me (Denise) on 0411 817 624 or send an email to rladms@bigpond.net.au and I will be happy to answer your questions |
